Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow was killed on Monday, 27 October 2008, by a group of 50 men whostoned her to death in a stadium in the southern port of Kismayu, in front ofaround 1,000 spectators.
Shewas accused of adultery in breach of Islamic law but, her father and othersources told Amnesty International that she had in fact been raped by threemen, and had attempted to report this rape to the al-Shabab militia who controlKismayo, and it was this act that resulted in her being accused of adultery anddetained. None of men she accused of rape were arrested.

Fear creeps slowly, it hides itself,
it approaches a fragile young girl.
My journey begins this way, my end
...as an angel deprived of hope.
I rub my hands nervously,
among certainties of a dissolved humanity.
My legs are shaking, they hurl themselves,
they try to find a way among people staring.
Dust rises among the executioners
it quickly reaches the sky.
A rope tighten my wrists, then my ankles.
I cry out to the sky mercifully, to reason,
to the ground that devours me in the shadow.
Thirst of justice surrenders slowly.
I lose its warmth, its image becomes blurry.
I lose hear in my father's anger.
The breath runs out, agony germinates,
The heart beats in a weak body,
the child detaches herself from reality
and she still dreams in a thrill.

Somalia. Aveva solo 13 anni. Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow e’ stata uccisa lunedì 27 ottobre 2008 da un gruppo di 50 uomini che l’ha lapidata a morte. L’esecuzione e’ avvenuta all’interno di uno stadio della città meridionale di Chisimaio, di fronte a un migliaio di spettatori. Aisha era arrivata a Chisimaio tre mesi prima, proveniente dal campo profughi di Hagardeer, in Kenya. Nella città portuale somala, Aisha era stata stuprata da tre uomini e si era rivolta ai miliziani di “al Shabab”, che controllano la zona, per ottenere giustizia. La sua denuncia aveva ottenuto come risultato l’arresto, l’accusa di adulterio e la lapidazione. Nessuno dei tre stupratori è stato arrestato. Aisha è stata condotta sul luogo del supplizio a bordo di un furgone per poi essere massacrata. Ai presenti è stato detto che lei stessa aveva riconosciuto la propria colpa, e accettato il suo crudele destino: ma, al momento di essere trucidata, si è messa a urlare e a divincolarsi, mentre i carnefici la immobilizzavano legandole mani e piedi. A quel punto un congiunto le è corso incontro, tentando di aiutarla, ma gli integralisti di guardia hanno aperto il fuoco per fermarlo, e hanno ucciso un bambino. La ragazza è stata interrata e i 50 uomini addetti all’esecuzione hanno iniziato a colpirla, usando le pietre appena scaricate da un camion. A un certo punto, è stato chiesto ad alcune infermiere di verificare se la ragazza fosse ancora viva; fatto ciò, la lapidazione è ripresa fino alla morte della ragazza.

La paura striscia lentamente, si cela
accostata ad un adolescente fragile.
Così inizia il mio viaggio, la mia fine
... da angelo spoglio di speranze.
Le mani si sfregano nervosamente
tra le certezze di un’umanità dissolta.
Le gambe tremano, si scagliano,
inseguono un varco tra gli sguardi.
La polvere si rialza tra i carnefici
e raggiunge in fretta il cielo.
Una corda stringe i polsi, poi le caviglie.
Urlo la pietà al vento, alla ragione,
al terreno che mi divora nell’ombra.
Cede lentamente la sete di giustizia.
Ne perdo il calore, l’immagine è sfocata.
Nella rabbia di mio padre … mi accascio.
Manca il respiro, l’agonia germoglia,
il cuore batte in un corpo debole,
la bimba si allontana dalla realtà
e sogna ancora nel fremito.
Aisha è rinata, si risveglia, sorride
... nel silenzio di una nuova vita.
